This couldn’t have come at a better time.  Seems like we’re seeing more and more bars, special events, etc. offering greener options for serving beverages in terms of cups and plates and cutlery.  You’ll  often see cups made from some kind of plant-based plastic labeled “compostable”.  I’ve got some chunks of this plant plastic sitting in my home compost pile right now, looking about as intact as the day I put them there over a year ago.  If you’ve ever wondered about these new polymers, check out this column from Cecil Adams’ Straight Dope.
